Elizabeth Barnwell is a passionate teller of rare and beautiful stories. She has a long history of involvement with the photographic arts in Minnesota and abroad as a documentary portrait photographer and art educator. Elizabeth earned a B.A. in Studio Art from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA and holds an M.Ed. in Art Education from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Elizabeth’s photographic work from Malawi was featured by Madonna and Gucci at The U.N. in 2008 at an event that raised over 5 million dollars for the country of Malawi and UNICEF. Her personal and documentary work explores the bond of family and human resilience.
Elizabeth is available for private client work, commercial work, exhibition and teaching. She delights in photographing families, children (the human and furry kinds) and making portraits for compassionate and creative people. Her work has been dubbed, “organic”, as she rejects the usage of photoshop, preferring to individually edit and retouch images with a light hand, yielding naturally lit, lovely images.
Please contact Elizabeth for further information regarding scheduling a session, purchasing a print or licensing an image.
